01SANDS & SOILS
Breathing room for roots in coarse perlite
A light, granular medium that transforms a standard pot into a well-aerated environment. The coarse texture creates space between particles, allowing air to circulate freely around the root zone.
This Orku product suits growers who value drainage over water retention. It is particularly effective for orchids, succulents, and any plant housed in containers where excess moisture can be detrimental.
Premium Super Coarse Perlite Bag.

02MATERIAL
Expanded silicous rock structure
Perlite is a heat-expanded silicous rock, resulting in a lightweight aggregate that does not compact easily. The super coarse grade features larger particles than standard varieties, creating significant voids within the mix. This physical structure ensures the medium remains loose over time, maintaining its aerating properties even after repeated watering cycles.

04APPLICATION
Versatile use across growing methods
Beyond dedicated hydroponic setups, this perlite integrates seamlessly into potting mixes, insulation layers, and lightweight concrete applications. Its low weight makes it manageable for raised beds or hanging baskets. As an Australian Organic Registered Garden Product, it fits naturally into organic-focused cultivation practices.

About this product
Perlite is a heat expanded silicous rock product for use as a hydroponic growing medium. Perlite retains enough moisture for it to be effective as a hand watered medium, but also has sufficient drainage to be used in a recycling drip irrigation system. Perlite is extremely lightweight and is suitable for use in a variety of growing containers, including pots, trays, bottom fed auto watering systems, etc.
Coarse perlite has the highest air porosity, so it offers the most drainage capability and ensures the roots of your plants can breathe well. It’s popular among people who grow orchids and succulents, and also people who do a lot of container gardening, as it provides excellent drainage.
