5 x 10L Resealable Zip Lock Bag (Net Weight approximately 430g each bag)

02MATERIALS
Volcanic glass expanded for aeration
Formed from volcanic glass, this perlite is a hard, aerated white mineral that remains inorganic and inert. Its sterile nature means it introduces no disease, weeds or insects into your mix, while its high cation-exchange capacity helps buffer nutrients for plant uptake.

04PRACTICALITY
Lightweight bulk for custom blends
Supplied as five 10L resealable zip lock bags, each containing approximately 430g of perlite, the total net weight is manageable for home use. The ultra-light quality offsets the density of compost and soil, keeping raised beds and heavy pots easier to move and position.
05DETAILS
Gentle on seedlings and hands
Non-abrasive and easy to handle, this medium allows seedlings to be removed with minimal root disturbance during transplanting. The quick germination it encourages stems from improved airflow around the seed, giving young plants a strong start before they are moved to larger containers.

About this product
Perlite is a light, hard, aerated, white mineral, formed from volcanic glass, used in potting mixes to add open and porous drainage, provide aeration to plant roots and hold oxygen, a little moisture and nutrients from soluble fertilisers.
Perfect for creating your own potting mix or raised bed mix in bulk. Simply add compost, soil and other components to make your own specialty blend, especially for plants that love aeration and excellent drainages like cacti, succulents and orchids. The angular properties of Coarse Perlite make it particularly useful for creating free draining potting mixes.
Perlite in seed raising mixtures encourages quicker germination and improved seedling growth. Seedlings are easily removed from Perlite with little damage to the roots as they transplant with minimum disturbance.
