Housed in durable ABS plastic, the unit measures approximately 125 by 180 millimetres, making it light enough to hold in one hand while standing at the pool's edge. The probe extends another 150 millimetres, ensuring sufficient depth for an accurate sample without needing to wade into the water.

Operation requires only one AA battery, which is not included in the package. The carton itself is a modest 20 by 15 by 7 centimetres, weighing 0.4 kilograms including the manual. Manual measurements may vary by up to two inches, so consistent placement of the probe helps ensure reliable tracking over time.
